Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the first Armenia Prayer Breakfast on Saturday in Yerevan.
The Prime Minister welcomed the attendees and noted that the year 2025 is a very important one for the Republic of Armenia, because for the first time in its 34 years of independence, peace has been established.
Pashinyan emphasized that, for the first time in its history, the Republic of Armenia is living in a state of peace. He described it as “a long path that we have traveled—perhaps often hearing without understanding, looking without seeing the path that God has prepared for our people and our state,” according to a press release by his office.
According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, what applies to an individual also applies to the state, and “it is essential to recognize, see, and build the state’s connection with God.” The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of incorporating biblical principles into political activity and state governance.
Speaking about the integrity of public officials, the Prime Minister said:
“We often talk and constantly discuss and think about what additional mechanisms we should introduce to ensure integrity, because integrity is perhaps one of the most important issues in all countries. And of course, integrity is a matter of reforms, a matter of regulations, checks and balances, but integrity is impossible without the presence of God; integrity is impossible without the word of God.”
Pashinyan noted that the Republic of Armenia’s Prayer Breakfast is about the relationship between God and man, and that it is very important for the relationship between God and the individual to also find expression in the relationship between God and the state.
Pashinyan said that the fact that the peace process with Azerbaijan took place in the period between the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., which he attended earlier this year, and the inaugural Prayer Breakfast in Armenia, perhaps “has some spiritual significance and meaning.”
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan thanked the participants of the event for being present and for “speaking in the language of God.”
“The hours we spent yesterday and today in this format provide great spiritual strength and energy to try to continue the chosen path—or, after re-examining and reaffirming it, to try to remain faithful to that path—and to be confident that all of us: myself, our Government, our state, the governing team, and all the citizens of our country, are walking the path along which God is guiding us. And I believe that the path of peace is precisely the path along which God is leading us,” the Prime Minister said, concluding his remarks with Psalm 31.
The event, organized by Armenia’s civil society, aims to promote dialogue and cooperation, based on Armenia’s historical Christian identity, peace, moral principles of leadership, and religious freedom. The broader goal of the Prayer Breakfast is to form a vision and to view Armenia as a leading country in religious freedom and well-being, with a society based on faith, partnership, innovation, and peace. Through the Prayer Breakfast, the Republic of Armenia joins the global tradition that unites leaders to reflect, pray, and find moral solutions to the challenges of our time.
