Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has posted a video on his Facebook page titled “How will we ensure our security?”
“Many citizens, if not all, ask the question: history is history, peace is established, but how are we planning to manage our country’s security threats, especially when, amid statements about peace, we also hear declarations that do not align with the logic of established peace.
My answer to this question is again the same - legitimacy.
Now let me briefly explain what legitimacy means.
Legitimacy means pursuing policies based on the internationally recognized sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia - 29,743 square kilometers. This legitimacy will allow us to do two things.
First, unlike before, we will have no restrictions in establishing and maintaining any kind of military-technical cooperation with any partner country in the world and in acquiring weapons and ammunition as needed, which, in fact, is already happening today. Thanks to the ideology of the 'Real Armenia,' countries are one by one lifting restrictions on cooperation with us in the field of armaments and military equipment.
But all this is not for war - it is for peace. Because legitimacy, that is, grounding all our positions and policies in our sovereign and legitimate rights, limits others in all cases and expands our opportunities in all cases.
Therefore, legitimacy is the key factor that must ensure our security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty in the long term.
This includes the fact that, based on legitimacy, we can develop our army, acquire armaments and military equipment, and carry out reforms together with international partners, which is exactly what we are doing,” the Prime Minister says.
