A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Türkiye’s Sea of Marmara on Thursday, authorities reported.
According to Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the epicenter was located off the coast of the town of Marmaraereglisi in the northwestern Tekirdag province at 2.55 pm local time (1155 GMT).
The quake occurred at a depth of 6.71 kilometers (4.2 miles), Anadolu Agency reports.
Istanbul Governor Davut Gul said that following the 5.0-magnitude earthquake, there have been no reports of damage in Istanbul so far.
The Sea of Marmara links the Aegean and Black seas.
