There are good proposals for resolving the Ukrainian conflict, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media after the talks with Russian President Vladimir in Moscow 26 September, BelTA has learned.
“You can say and declare anything. But what if the Kremlin strikes Bankovaya Street [a street in Kiev where Ukrainian government institutions are headquartered]? What would remain of it? Therefore, Vladimir Zelensky needs to calm down. There are good proposals on the table. We discussed them with President Putin. I will not speak about them; the president will speak about them himself. These are good proposals. Proposals regarding Ukraine, which were also heard by Donald Trump in Alaska, were taken to Washington for consideration and discussion. Very good proposals. If the Ukrainians do not accept these proposals, then the situation will be like the beginning of the Special Military Operation. It will be even worse. They will lose Ukraine,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that they should have stopped at the beginning, and then the entire east would have remained Ukrainian, except for Crimea. “They didn't stop and they lost the east. Now, if they don't stop (this is from my perspective as someone deeply immersed in this situation), then they will lose all of Ukraine,” the president is convinced.
The Belarusian head of state noted that his Russian counterpart is very open with him, and during the meeting, the presidents also listened via video conference to a report from the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. “Listen, on all fronts, and especially in certain sectors, the Russians have practically captured major populated areas. I look at it geographically: what comes next? After this, it will be difficult to stop the Russian army,” Alexander Lukashenko stated.
“Therefore, to avoid losing all of Ukraine, Vladimir Aleksandrovich [Zelensky] must not just talk, but agree to terms favorable to him [regarding conflict resolution]. Terms that, generally speaking, were approved by the Americans. They have taken a pause to think. The Russians have agreed,” the head of state noted. “This is why I would like to simply have a conversation with him (before he meets with President Putin as he says he wants this; he says this using all channels and has already done so publicly.”
