Former U.S. President Donald Trump described the Russia-Ukraine war as having become a personal conflict, making it very difficult to resolve.
“Let’s see what happens in the next two weeks. But if they don’t meet, there will be consequences,” Trump said during a joint press conference with the President of South Korea. He noted that he has not yet discussed clear security guarantees for Ukraine, emphasizing that these should be provided by European partners, while Washington stands ready to support.
On the situation in Gaza, Trump expressed hope that the conflict would reach a “convincing conclusion” within the next two to three weeks. Asked about recent Israeli strikes on a Gaza hospital that left dozens injured and killed, including journalists, Trump said he was displeased that such an incident occurred.
“Nonetheless, the hostages held by Hamas must be returned,” he added.
Trump also voiced concern over rising tensions between South and North Korea.
"We'll work on that. We can have a summit between the two sides," the US President suggested. Trump added that he would like to meet with the North Korean leader this year.
He noted that he often communicates with Kim Jong-un on various issues. Following the meeting with the South Korean President, Trump also reported that Washington and Seoul had managed to sign a trade deal.
