Republican People's Party of Turkey presidential candidate and Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu gave an interview to journalist Fatih Altaylı.
Both are imprisoned in Silivri Prison: İmamoğlu on charges of corruption in the Istanbul Municipality, Fatih Altaylı for threatening President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The interview discussed the possible candidacy of Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş in the presidential election.
İmamoğlu noted that neither he nor Yavaş ever considered the candidacy as a personal matter, and both have the same goals.
İmamoğlu also stressed the importance of Turkey's return to a parliamentary system of government.
İmamoğlu was arrested in March this year and is accused of a number of crimes. The opposition believes that the cases filed against Imamoglu are politically motivated.
