Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan met at the presidential residence with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who is in Armenia on an official visit, the Presidential Office has said in a readout.
President Khachaturyan welcomed his counterpart, emphasized the importance of bilateral friendly ties, and expressed confidence that the Iranian President’s visit “would contribute to the further deepening of relations between Armenia and Iran, as well as enhancing peace and stability in the region.”
President Pezeshkian, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and partnership. The parties discussed the possibility of realizing the existing potential for cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and other areas.
The sides underscored the bilateral agreements reached during the official visit to Yerevan and expressed confidence that, thanks to joint efforts, they would be fully implemented.
President Khachaturyan also noted that one of the best examples of close Armenian-Iranian partnership is the extensive work of Iranian road construction companies in the Syunik section of the North-South Road Corridor, which vividly demonstrates the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation and the high level of trust.
It was noted that the regional and geopolitical situation was also discussed. In this context, the sides touched upon Armenia’s "Crossroads of Peace" program. The parties emphasized that the establishment of stable and lasting peace and the creation of trade routes based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of states would benefit the entire region.
