Two people have been confirmed dead following an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russia’s Krasnodar region, with another eleven injured, regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported on his Telegram channel, TASS reports.
Earlier reports had stated that one woman was killed and another injured.
"In the Adler district of Sochi, debris from a downed unmanned aerial vehicle fell on Aviatsionnaya Street. At the time of the crash, two women were in close proximity; both succumbed to their injuries <…> As a result of the attack, eleven people were injured. Four of them have been hospitalized, including a traffic police officer who will be airlifted to the regional hospital," the statement said.
Meanwhile, Russia launched drone strikes against Ukraine's Odesa early on Thursday (July 24), officials said, damaging a large food market, residential buildings and the historic city centre, Reuters reports.
A large fire broke out at the famous Pryvoz food market, which Regional Governor Oleh Kiper described as the "living heart of Odesa."
Four people were injured in the attack, Kiper added. "Yesterday, at a meeting in Istanbul, the Russian side was again presented with a proposal to immediately and completely cease fire. In response, Russian drones are striking residential buildings," Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote on Telegram. He said Russia launched 103 drones and four missiles during its overnight attack.
Odesa's historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was also hit. Some residents helped clean the glass from the nearby streets.
"So what if the (drones) are flying? We will shoot them down, they will not break us," Yevhen, a 20-year-old student who came to help clean, told Reuters.
