Armenia's vision of lifting blockade is anchored on sovereignty and national jurisdiction: Foreign Ministry responded to Erdogan's statement

Armenia has been and remains interested in expanding regional connectivity and fostering economic development, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan told Armenpress in response to a statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the unblocking of transport communications.

  • “The President of Turkey touched upon the issue of unblocking transport communications today, using the term 'corridor', and noted that Armenia is taking a more flexible approach to the matter in order to participate in economic integration. How would you comment on this?”
  • In response, Badalyan said: “Armenia has been and remains interested in expanding regional connectivity and economic development. It is with this understanding that the Republic of Armenia has proposed the Crossroads of Peace initiative and specific ideas, solutions, and constructive proposals aligned with this vision.

In our view, these approaches can yield mutually beneficial outcomes both for the countries in the region and for partners interested in developing a wider communication network.

As before, the Republic of Armenia’s approach to unblocking regional transport infrastructure is based on fundamental principles: respect for sovereignty, national jurisdiction over communication routes, and, as is known, does not imply any alternative logic. Discussions with interested partners are ongoing.”
