Speaking aboard Air Force One en-route to the NATO summit in The Hague, Donald Trump criticized Israeli strikes that triggered an Iranian response, warning they risk undermining the ceasefire.
When asked about consequences for either country, Trump dismissed the need for action, stating neither side had done anything warranting punishment.
He emphasized that Iran is not currently focused on nuclear weapons, saying, “The last thing on Iran’s mind right now is nuclear weapons.” He added that Iran “won’t have enrichment” and suggested the country should shift focus to becoming a “great trading nation,” calling Iranians “very good traders.”
Trump also expressed a preference for stability over regime change, saying it brings “chaos” and that Iran has the resources and capability to rebuild economically.
