Armenia continues large-scale reforms in the military by acquiring modern armaments envisaged for defending its territorial integrity, sovereignty and democracy, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan has said.
“Armenia continues to implement large-scale reforms in the armed forces,” Grigoryan said at the APRI 2025 forum when asked about the components of ensuring security. “Armenia acquires modern armaments, the primary goal of which is the protection of the country’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and democracy. These are our priorities. We are also taking into account the ongoing developments in the region and acquiring capabilities accordingly,” he said.
The results of the reforms are already visible, although it is not publicly spoken about, he said.
“We continue to increase our capabilities and also realize that in order to ensure overall security, it is important to have not only modern armaments and military, but a balancing foreign policy,” Grigoryan said, adding that Armenia is trying to resolve all issues diplomatically.
