Hakob Arshakyan presented Armenia’s approach to the peace process in the South Caucasus region. The RA NA Vice President noted that Armenia is also conducting a constructive dialogue with Turkey, proposing the Crossroads of Peace initiative, which is aimed at deepening regional cooperation, strengthening Asia-Europe ties, as well as ensuring the well-being and sustainable development of peoples.
Hakob Arshakyan presented the issue of prisoners of war and detainees as an exclusively humanitarian issue, emphasizing that all prisoners of war and illegally held persons must be immediately returned to their homeland in accordance with international law and humanitarian norms.
Speaking about domestic political developments, Hakob Arshakyan reminded that after the velvet, non-violent revolution of 2018, Armenia consistently continues to implement democratic reforms.
The Vice-Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Koichiro Gemba reaffirmed Japan's support for the peace process, emphasizing the importance of the rule of international law, as well as the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.
