Today, on May 28, we commemorate the proclamation of the First Republic of Armenia (1918-1921), which survived war, genocide and empires. Olivier Decottignies, French Ambassador to Armenia, wrote about this in the X microblog.
“Long live the Republic, and long live a free, sovereign and democratic Armenia,” the post reads.
In another post, Decottignies noted:
“Today, alongside the Armenian authorities, we commemorated the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia, made possible by the victory at Sardarapat.”
