Armenia will remain committed to the peace agenda and make efforts to achieve the signing of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.
“Our strategy and strategic decision remain unchanged, that is, to be committed to the agenda of peace,” Pashinyan said at a joint press conference with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico in Yerevan.
“I hope during my speech today I was able to present to our international partners and highlight how close we are to peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” he said, referring to his speech at the Yerevan Dialogue 2025 forum, where he presented the Armenian-Azeri peace process.
“I am pleased to note that consultations with Azerbaijan continue with the purpose of not missing this historic chance. Allow me to express my conviction that it won’t be missed,” Pashinyan said.
“We have an agreed-upon text that is ready to be signed. This is a major achievement. But this is just one step that must have continuation,” Pashinyan said.
He thanked Slovakia and PM Fico for supporting the process.
“Slovakia was one of the first to welcome the completion of the talks around the draft peace treaty and it expects the signing of the agreement. We highly appreciate this support,” he said.
He said finalizing the talks is a great achievement in itself, given that it has been done in a difficult international and regional environment.
