Russia and Ukraine conducted a 307-for-307 prisoner exchange. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
As follows from the message of the military department, everything happened on Saturday, May 24. The process was initiated by the Russian side, and during the prisoner exchange, 307 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces were returned to their homeland from the territory controlled by Kiev. In exchange, 307 captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were transferred to the Ukrainian side.
At the moment, the released Russian soldiers are in Belarus. They receive all the necessary assistance there. They will then be taken to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry emphasizes that the large-scale prisoner exchange initiated by Moscow is planned to continue.
It should be recalled that the parties agreed to conduct a prisoner exchange in Istanbul. Everything happened back on May 16.
