Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting on Monday with the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Annita Demetriou.
According to a readout issued by the Foreign Ministry, both sides commended the ongoing political dialogue between the two countries and the dynamic development of their partnership.
Addressing the opening of resident embassies in Yerevan and Nicosia, Mirzoyan and Demetriou expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, it would be possible to expand cooperation in new areas of mutual interest. The economy, tourism, and education were among the key topics discussed during the meeting.
According to the readout, Mirzoyan and Demetriou also discussed mutual support between the two countries on international platforms.
Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus in the context of deepening Armenia-EU relations. Minister Mirzoyan noted that the effective use of the existing toolkit and strong support from EU member states are crucial for advancing Armenia-EU cooperation.
Regional issues were also addressed during the meeting. FM Mirzoyan reaffirmed that, despite all challenges, Armenia remains committed to the agenda of establishing peace in the South Caucasus. He presented ongoing efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of signing a peace treaty.
