Pakistan continued to violate ceasefire across the Line of Control (LoC), with the Indian Army responding promptly and proportionately, The Times of India reports.
This was the ninth consecutive day of ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops. "During the night of 02-03 May 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small‑arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor areas of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately," news agency ANI quoted Indian Army officials as saying.
The ceasefire violations by Pakistani soldiers come despite a hotline conversation earlier this week between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, during which the Indian side is learnt to have cautioned Pakistan.
Pakistan has put its forces on high alert fearing a military action by India for the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. India has taken a slew of diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty between the two neighbours. Since April 24, just hours after the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistani troops have been resorting to unprovoked firing at various places along the LoC, starting from the Kashmir Valley.
