The European Parliament held a discussion titled "Unlawful detention and sham trials of Armenian hostages, including high-ranking political representatives from Nagorno-Karabakh, by Azerbaijan."
Geadis Geadi, representing Cyprus, stated that "more than a year has passed since Azerbaijan’s attack on Nagorno-Karabakh, and Armenians are still unable to heal their wounds." According to him, the repression against Armenians continues.
"Unfortunately, Aliyev’s regime not only disregards international law and human rights but also continues to illegally occupy Armenian territory," the MEP noted, calling on the EU to uphold democratic values.
He emphasized that the EU must stand firm against Azerbaijan and Turkey, whom he referred to as international criminals.
"We must put an end to the ethnic cleansing that has targeted Armenians, Greeks, and Cypriots," Geadi concluded.
