On March 8, at 09:26 local time (05:26 GMT), the seismological network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs recorded an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 with a depth of 10 km, 6 km northeast of the city of Spitak, Armenia, at geographical coordinates of 40.88⁰ north latitude and 44.29⁰ east longitude. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia reported this.
The intensity of the tremor in the epicenter zone was 6 points. The earthquake was felt in Lori, Shirak and Tavush provinces with a magnitude of 4-6 points, and in Kotayk, Gegharkunik and Aragatsotn provinces with a magnitude of 2-4 points.
