Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze wished U.S. President Donald Trump endurance and courage following yesterday’s clash with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, News-Georgia reports.
Kobakhidze labeled Georgian politicians and European leaders who supported Zelensky after accusations from Trump and his Vice President J.D. Vance in the Oval Office in the presence of the media as advocates of war.
In the sharp reaction to yesterday’s scene, he saw a “divide between forces that want peace and are concerned about the fate of Ukrainians, and those who want to fight to the last Ukrainian.”
“President Trump and his peacekeeping efforts are being condemned one after another by people who are responsible for allowing the bloody war and the cold-blooded killing of Ukraine and thousands of Ukrainians,” Kobakhidze wrote on his Facebook page.
In the current situation, he sees the hand of the “global war party,” which, according to the Georgian Dream theory, seeks to open a “second front” in Georgia.
Kobakhidze expressed confidence that the current state of affairs proves that the ruling party was right when it linked Western criticism of Tbilisi to the “deep state.”
“The global war party instantly mobilized familiar speakers against President Trump—from Jeanne Shaheen to numerous officials in Brussels. Not far behind them were the leaders of the Georgian radical opposition, who just a month ago were boasting about ‘selfies’ taken in the back room during President Trump’s inauguration,” Kobakhidze said, referring to the assessment of yesterday’s clash by Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili.
“The struggle between the war party and the peace-loving forces is entering its decisive phase. Let us hope that this battle will end with a victory for peace. The sooner the war in Ukraine ends, the fewer Ukrainian lives will be lost and the faster peace will be established throughout the region,” Kobakhidze concluded.
