Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to tell permanent members of the Security Council about his recent trips abroad, TASS reports.
The Russian foreign minister was supposed to present a report on Russia’s relations with its closest neighbors.
The Russian leader asked Lavrov to take the floor, adding: "And then, certainly, I would like you to tell us about your visits. I receive and see your reports but it will be useful for our colleagues to hear."
Since the last president’s meeting with permanent members of Russia’s Security Council held on February 14, Lavrov has made a number of important visits abroad.
On February 18, he and Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov held talks with the US in Riyadh, where the sides discussed bilateral relations and expressed readiness for their gradual recovery as well as approached the negotiation process on the Ukraine conflict.
On February 20, Lavrov participated in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa.
