During the briefing in the Parliament of Armenia, Speaker Alen Simonyan, referred to the statement of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the transfer of the management of the 'Zangezur Corridor' to the organization of another country. In response to the journalist's question whether this does not harm Armenia's subjectivity, he said.
"All agreements are discussed in mirror logic. Second, such an attempt to transfer to another organization exists, and if such a thing happens, it will happen in accordance with Armenia's legislation. If it happens, it's logical that it's new, it's been a few years since this conflict has ended, and it's natural that it would be much more comfortable to go through, if there's a screening, to have some kind of mediator. If this is done in accordance with Armenia's legislation, if it is done under Armenia's flag and Armenia's laws, what kind of surrender of sovereignty are we talking about? Russian border guards stood at our airport for decades. Even now, Russian border guards are standing on the border of Turkey and Iran, and we also have something to think about in this regard. It's just an opinion, it's just a proposal that is under discussion," said the Parliament Speaker.
Regarding the question that Iranian officials make different statements at different levels and call on Azerbaijan and Russia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia, whether this activity does not imply the possibility of unleashing new aggression by Azerbaijan, Alen Simonyan said.
"I don't know if we should draw a conclusion with this or not, I always think that Azerbaijan will possibly use aggression against Armenia, and I always act according to that logic. Taking this opportunity, I want to welcome the mentioned statements and say that those statements of the Republic of Iran are very important, and such activity is only welcome."
