Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for Russian President Vladimir Putin, commented the Kakhovka dam shelling.
“This is a deliberate sabotage by the Ukrainian side. This sabotage can potentially have an impact, entailing very serious consequences. Consequences for several tens and thousands of inhabitants of the region. Environmental and non-environmental impacts have yet to be established. In addition, it is clear that this sabotage is based on, set as one of the goals to deprive the Crimea of water. The water level in the reservoir falls and, accordingly, the supply to the canal is sharply reduced. Kakhovka dam was sabotaged by Ukraine as counteroffensive is faltering”, Peskov said.
