Among the priorities of Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners remains a cornerstone. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced this at the session of the NA Foreign Relations Committee today, adding that the issue was constantly raised during all bilateral and multilateral meetings.
“Operative work with the ICRC office in Armenia also continued. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, in cooperation with other departments, prepared and submitted a package of complaints-reports regarding the Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan to the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, Degrading Treatment or Punishment, as well as to the Working Party on Arbitrary Arrests and Enforced Disappearances working groups," said Mirzoyan.
The Minister also mentioned that documents regarding the issue of prisoners were distributed in international organizations in New York, Geneva, Strasbourg, Vienna, Brussels and elsewhere.
