US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had a telephone conversation with the official representative of the Turkish leader İbrahim Kalın. The parties discussed diplomatic cooperation with Russia, as well as "joint efforts to curb alleged Russian aggression against Ukraine." This was stated by White House National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne.
On December 17 last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry released Russian proposals to Washington on security guarantees to NATO. Among other things, the Kremlin expects members of the US-NATO alliance to refuse to expand to the east, including Ukraine, as well as restrictions on serious offensive weapons, in particular nuclear weapons. Several rounds of consultations have already been held, but no agreement has been announced yet.
Sullivan and Kalın also touched upon "regional issues, including efforts to normalize relations between Turkey and Armenia," TASS reports.
