Spanish well-known El Confidencial magazine made an extensive reference about Azerbaijani “caviar diplomacy”, mentioning the cases discovered in European institutions at different times.
A number of high-ranking officials were mentioned in the report, they received millions of dollars to prevent the admission of a report by the European Union, in which Azerbaijan is qualified as a dictatorship.
Spanish Pedro Agramunt is mentioned, he had resigned his position of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe because of the scandalous discoveries related to “Azebaijani Laundromat”. By that corrupt scheme, with the help of the European companies and banks, around 2.9 billion dollars were transferred to European officials to restore the reputation of Aliyev and Azerbaijan. In the announcement, there is a reference to the documentary movie “Caviar Connection” 2021, in which French journalist and documentary filmmaker Benoit Bringer explains the manifestations of the “caviar diplomacy” by the non-democratic countries of the Caspian coast.
According to the movie, including Azerbaijani authorities have cultivated “dark formulas”, to take a place in the international and European organizations and institutions, while not fulfilling their obligations in the human rights’ field.
The movie tells about the non-democratic elections held in Azerbaijan, the possession of political, economic, financial resources by Aliyevs, the pressures of freedom of speech, also the cases of bribing European officials.
