Today the Parliament adopted the draft amendments to the Constitution in the first reading with 89 votes in favor, 0 against and 0 abstentions.
In his speech Vahagn Hovakimyan, a member of the NA "My Step" faction, said that Armenia deserves to have a Constitutional Court that enjoys the public's trust. He said that this initiative is being taken for the sake of the Republic of Armenia.
The draft will be discussed in the second reading today. Before that the deputies can submit their proposals on the draft in writing within three hours.
The "Prosperous Armenia" and "Bright Armenia" factions of the National Assembly did not take part in the special sitting of the National Assembly.
