Today at 11:00 in the National Assembly of Artsakh started the special session of the Parliament, where they elect the President of the country. Due to the transitional provisions of constitutional amendments in Artsakh, the Parliament will elect a President during the transitional period, who will govern until 2020, the end of the authority of the acting National Assembly, after which all-republic presidential election will take place. Two candidates have been nominated for the election – the acting President Bako Sahakyan and an MP from “Movement-88” group Eduard Aghabekyan. Three parties of the Artsakh Parliament – “Motherland”, “Democracy” and “Federation” – 28 MPs from total 33 support the candidacy of the acting President Bako Sahakyan. To be elected as a transitional President of Artsakh he needs 21 votes.
