The maintenance, strengthening and institutionalization of the peace established with Azerbaijan are a priority agenda for the Government. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan at today’s session of the National Assembly, while presenting the 2026-2031 Action Plan of the Government of Armenia.
According to him, one of the upcoming important tasks in this direction is the implementation of the TRIPP project on the ground, which stems from the Government’s Crossroads of Peaceproject.
“The TRIPP project, which will be implemented on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia, will put an end to the blockade of Armenia.
The blockade of Armenia, by the way, has now been partially overcome, because since November 2025, the Azerbaijani railway through the territory of Georgia has been open for imports to Armenia and exports from the Republic of Armenia, and the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway has been open for exports from Armenia and imports to Armenia since May.
"Now, the roads of Turkey are also being opened for Armenian cars through the territory of Georgia," the Prime Minister said, adding that the TRIPP project, however, will not only open a direct Armenia-Azerbaijan railway connection, including the connection between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhijevan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Armenia, as well as the railway connection of the northern regions of Armenia with the Syunik province through the territory of Nakhijevan, but will also integrate Armenia into the international railway network.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the implementation of the project will also open a railway connection between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea through the territory of Iran, Nakhijevan, Armenia and Georgia, which is a epoch-making change for the latter.
"Thus, Armenia will receive a railway connection with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Pashinyan said, drawing attention to the fact that the Persian Gulf-Black Sea railway has no direct connection with the TRIPP, that is, it is not part of this project.
