Ruben Rubinyan has been elected Speaker of the 9th National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Of the 105 members of parliament, 91 took part in the vote.
He was elected with 63 votes in favor and 28 against.
His candidacy for the position of Speaker was nominated by the Civil Contract party.
The Strong Armenia faction had announced that it would participate in the vote but would vote against Rubinyan's candidacy, while the Hayastan faction stated that it would not participate in the secret ballot.
