The Government had been on vacation, and various processes had been taking place, and it was very important for us that the peace process regain its momentum. It turned out that the same perception exists in Azerbaijan as well. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the National Assembly–Government question-and-answer session, commenting on the meeting held in Dilijan between Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
According to Pashinyan, the purpose of the meeting was to restore the momentum of the peace process.
“What has our experience shown? That direct bilateral contacts are very important. Moreover, a meeting in this format had never before taken place either in the Republic of Armenia or in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and this was the first time it was held in Armenia. Presumably, the next one will take place in Azerbaijan. It is also very important that through this, Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirm their commitment to the peace agenda,” he said.
