President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić has suggested he may step down as his term nears its end, making the remarks during an official visit to Beijing.
“It is possible that I will resign soon,” Vučić said, according to Serbian media.
Vučić was first elected president of Serbia in 2017 and secured a second term in 2022. His current presidential mandate is set to expire in 2027.
The Serbian leader began his visit to Beijing on May 25, with the trip expected to last until May 28. A day before his departure, a mass protest took place in Belgrade, where demonstrators called for immediate early elections. Parliamentary elections in the country are scheduled for the autumn.
