President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova at the presidential residence. The President of the Republic of North Macedonia is in Armenia on a working visit to participate in the summit of the European Political Community. Welcoming his counterpart, President Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked her for visiting Armenia and for participating in the Yerevan summit of the European Political Community.
“It is a great honor for us to host the participants of the next summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan. I am also pleased to have the opportunity for our meeting and hope that your visit to our country will contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation between Armenia and North Macedonia,” the President noted.
Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova thanked him for the warm reception and hospitality, noting that she was impressed by Armenia, and emphasized that there is great potential for cooperation between North Macedonia and Armenia, the full realization of which will become an important platform for expanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail a number of issues related to the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The need to deepen political dialogue and intensify mutual visits at various levels was discussed in order to make cooperation mechanisms more systematic and effective. The sides noted the importance of the possible participation of a high-level delegation from North Macedonia in the COP17 leaders’ summit, emphasizing the significance of cooperation in such formats for overcoming global challenges. The Armenia–European Union partnership was also touched upon, with emphasis placed on the importance of further developing relations with the European Union and deepening them institutionally. In this context, the study of North Macedonia’s experience as an EU candidate country was discussed, which may be useful in the context of Armenia’s European integration processes.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of encouraging direct contacts between citizens, considering the possibilities of visa liberalization, which would contribute to the development of mutual understanding, tourism, and business ties. During the meeting, the need to intensify interparliamentary cooperation as an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations was emphasized. The sides also noted the importance of expanding cooperation in the fields of information technology and education, indicating that this area could become a new and promising platform for the development of bilateral partnership.
