Araghchi briefs regional counterparts on Iran’s stance to end war: IRNA

Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, in separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from several countries in the region, has briefed them on the latest regional developments and Iran’s position regarding an end to the war, IRNA reports.

In phone calls on Friday with the foreign ministers of six regional countries including Turkiye, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi outlined the latest positions and initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran concerning the end of the war and the aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime.

Also, in a phone call on Friday, Araghchi and Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, discussed the latest regional developments.

Araghchi emphasized that the military aggression of America and the Israeli regime against Iran have been the main factor and origin of the insecurity imposed on the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.

despite absolute mistrust toward the American side due to repeated breaches of commitments, Iran, with good faith and responsibility, and with the goal of giving an end to the war, stepped into a new round of negotiations with the mediation of Pakistan, he said.

Araghchi also appreciated certain countries of the region for their constructive role to pursue diplomacy and keeping the region away from the dangerous consequences of the renewed military aggressions.

The foreign minister said that Iran did not initiate the current conflict, reiterating that Iran remains ready to engage in diplomacy if the US abandons its expansionist approach, threatening rhetoric, and provocative actions.

In the meantime, Araghchi warned that Iran’s armed forces are fully vigilant and prepared to launch a decisive, all-out defense against any threat to the nation’s sovereignty.

Regional foreign ministers also voiced strong support for diplomatic and peaceful solutions to end the conflict and resolve outstanding disputes. Outlining their respective governments’ positions, the ministers declared their readiness to facilitate the process.
