On April 24, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni criticized the decision to invite Russia to participate in the G20 summit.
"I think now is the moment when we ask him (Russian President Vladimir Putin. — Ed.) to take steps towards him, and we should not do this in relation to him. I think it's time to demand this from Russia," the ANSA news agency quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
At the same time, Meloni pointed out that she had not received any messages from US President Donald Trump since last week.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said on April 23 that Russia had received an invitation to participate in the G20 summit, which will be held in the United States on December 14-15. He added that the composition of the Russian delegation has not yet been definitively determined.
Later that day, Peskov said that no decision had yet been made on whether Putin would attend the G20 summit. He clarified that the work on the G20 line continues.
