On April 24, marking the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a commemorative ceremony was held at the khachkar in Armenian Park in Warsaw to honor the memory of the victims, with the participation of soldiers from the Warsaw Garrison Command.
Armenia’s Ambassador to Poland, Alexander Arzoumanian, addressed the significance of the day, highlighting the continued existence of racial and ethnic intolerance in the 21st century, manifestations of hatred, and new mass atrocities committed on that basis.
He also spoke about Armenia’s efforts to identify early warning signs of such crimes and to promote initiatives aimed at their prevention.
The ceremony continued with an intercessory prayer delivered by Reverend Father Minas Abegha Hakverdyan, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Poland, and Archpriest Józef Naumowicz, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Catholic Church in Poland, followed by a flower-laying ceremony.
Members of the Armenian-Polish Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as representatives and leaders of Armenian community organizations in Poland, were also present at the commemorative event.
