Reuters. The U.S. military said late on Tuesday (April 14) that American forces have completely halted economic trade going into and out of Iran by sea through a blockade.
In a post on X, U.S. Central Command said "an estimated 90% of Iran's economy is fueled by international trade by sea."

Iran has effectively shut the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global waterway for oil and gas transport, since the war began on February 28. Roughly 5,000 people have died in the hostilities.
