On April 3, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan met with the Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Armenia Mohammad Al-Shaikhly.
Welcoming the guest, Sargis Khandanyan noted that the friendly relations of the peoples of the two countries have always been as a firm basis for continuous development of cooperation between Armenia and Iraq. He underscored the importance of developing and expanding inter-state and parliamentary relations between Armenia and Iraq.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Mohammad Al-Shaikhly noted that bilateral relations between Armenia and Iraq are developing dynamically, which is also reflected in the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding.
It was noted by both sides that in the current geopolitical and regional situation, the two countries greatly emphasize the establishment of peace in the region, underlining that it is a crucial condition for the prosperity of states and mutually beneficial cooperation.
In the context of the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the key importance of parliamentary friendship groups and mutual visits was stressed, as well as the activation of programmes aimed at the interaction of Armenia-Iraq parliamentary friendship groups.
