The US has begun a partial evacuation of its consulate staff in Adana, Turkey amid security threats posed by the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
According to the US State Department, non-essential staff at the US Consulate in Adana and their family members on Monday were ordered to leave Turkey. The reason was the increased security risks in the region.
At the same time, the US Consulate in Adana has suspended consular services. American citizens have been advised to contact the US Embassy in Ankara or the US Consulate General in Istanbul. Americans in southeastern Turkey are urged to leave the region.
Restrictions on US personnel have been in place throughout southeastern Turkey since the start of hostilities between the US and Iran on February 28.
