Iran respects the sovereignty of neighboring and friendly Turkey and denies launching any missile towards its territory, the Iranian Armed Forces said.
Earlier, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported that a ballistic missile launched from Iran, which was approaching the country's borders through Iraq and Syria, was shot down. Ankara warned that it reserves the right to respond to any hostile action against Turkey.
After the incident, the Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers had a telephone conversation. Hakan Fidan urged Abbas Arachi to avoid any steps that could escalate the conflict. The Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
