As of Tuesday, 31 Russian citizens have been repatriated from Iran via Armenia, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced Wednesday.
She added that 253 Russian nationals had left Iran via Azerbaijan, and 8 via the Turkmen border.
“The Russian side expresses its sincere gratitude to Ashgabat, Baku, and Yerevan for rendering prompt and effective assistance in the unhindered exit from Iran of Russian citizens who found themselves in the most difficult situation in life amid the escalation of tensions in the region. We [i.e. Russia] highly appreciate the readiness of our friends and good neighbors, according to which they not only provided the necessary organizational and logistical assistance, but also surrounded our fellow citizens with care and attention,” the Russian MFA Spokesperson added.
