Armenia is an institutional country, and state institutions work regardless of where the prime minister is and what he is doing.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this during the Parliament–Cabinet question-and-answer session, referring to a question by opposition Armenia faction MP Agnesa Khamoyan.
Agnesa Khamoyan quoted from the 2026 report of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of Armenia, which referred to Iran. She accused the prime minister of eating potato pies while traveling to Armenia’s regions on the first day of the Iran–US–Israel war.
In response, the prime minister emphasized that there are institutions in Armenia that function regardless of where the prime minister is or what he is doing.
“The prime minister and the government have ensured that these institutions are functioning. Moreover, what is happening in Iran may be news to you, but it is not news to the state institutions of Armenia. This situation has been developing for years,” Pashinyan said.
He added that Armenia is very sorry for the events taking place in and around the Islamic Republic of Iran and has repeatedly expressed this position.
Pashinyan noted that the Armenian Security Council held sessions both a day before and a day after the events unfolding in Iran. The Armenian defense minister visited Iran during the same week. The Foreign Intelligence Service presented a report. An interdepartmental working group has also been operating under the Security Council for quite some time and works on a daily basis.
He also said he had “bad news” for the MP.
“When we were eating pies and that video went viral on the internet, including internationally, a number of respected partners in the Middle East decided to eat in public restaurants to show that their citizens had nothing to worry about and that the situation was under control. If you haven’t noticed, it is even worse,” he said.
Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia is an institutional country, the Foreign Intelligence Service does its job, and other state institutions also fulfill their responsibilities.
