Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said many people are concerned about global instability and what he described as a “suspicious calm” around and within Armenia.
Speaking at an event dedicated to Diplomat’s Day, Pashinyan said Armenia has reached a stage where it is capable of protecting itself from geopolitical shocks.
“It is very important that we, together with the diplomatic service, protect the achievements gained through our work over the years. It is important that we value the peace we have and the unblocking environment around Armenia,” the prime minister said, addressing diplomats.
He stressed that Armenia’s economic development has exceeded expectations, partly due to diplomatic efforts, and underscored the need to safeguard these achievements.
Pashinyan noted that concerns about the current situation are understandable.
“Today, many are concerned about unrest in the world and the suspicious calm around Armenia and inside the country. I understand these concerns, because this is an unusual situation for us,” he said.
According to the prime minister, the current stability corresponds to reality but cannot be taken for granted and requires continuous daily work, primarily by Armenia’s diplomatic service.
Pashinyan expressed confidence that Armenian diplomacy has the capacity to preserve, protect and further develop the country’s achievements, warning that any achievement that reaches a plateau risks losing its significance.
“We must be able to look at the world from a higher perspective, and to do so we must focus on education. None of us should think that we already know everything,” Pashinyan concluded.
