On February 23, in Geneva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
The interlocutors discussed the development of the partnership between Armenia and Switzerland and the efforts aimed at enriching the bilateral agenda with new substantive directions.
Minister Mirzoyan noted that the Government of the Republic of Armenia has decided to establish a resident embassy in Bern. Both sides emphasized with satisfaction that this step will serve as a new impetus for closer bilateral cooperation.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Ignazio Cassis discussed issues of interaction within the OSCE framework, including under the Swiss Chairmanship. Mutually beneficial engagement in other formats and upcoming high-level events, including the European Political Community meeting to be held in Yerevan were also touched upon.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Switzerland also exchanged views on regional developments. The importance of the established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and consistent steps aimed at its further consolidation were emphasized.
The humanitarian issues and programs aimed at addressing the needs of refugees displaced from Karabakh were also touched upon.
