At present, there is no authorizing norm in the Law On Physical Culture and Sports, on the basis of which the order of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (ESCS) of the Republic of Armenia procedure for operating the sports management system will be established, and an opportunity will be provided to develop, introduce and maintain state administrative registers in the field of sports.
The ESCS Deputy Minister Hasmik Avagyan said, submitting for debate the draft law On Making Addenda to the Law on Physical Culture and Sports in the first reading in the National Assembly. The Deputy Minster informed that in order to fill the legislative gap it has become necessary to make addendum to the Law On Physical Culture and Sports and establish an authorizing norm.
Among other data, the Information System will also reflect data regarding the mass sports events, including the name of the event, the number of participants in the community, regional, final stages by region, the proportion of participants, winners, prize-winners, etc. Statistical data referring to high sports achievements, including disabled sports, will include high sports results demonstrated in various sports at the RA championships, international tournaments, the total number of medals won, and other data.
The adoption of the draft will promote the creation of a unified system for collecting and analyzing statistical data relating to mass sports, high-achievement sports, and children’s and youth sports schools.
The NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport endorsed the draft.
