Reuters. The shopkeepers' protest continued on Tuesday (January 6) as eyewitness videos showed protestors throwing gas canisters amid clashes with Iranian security forces in Tehran's Grand Bazaar.
Reuters was able to confirm the location of the videos by buildings and road layout which matched satellite and file imagery of the area.
The date could not be verified, however an eyewitness told Reuters that there was heavy police presence in the area on Tuesday.
At least 25 people have been killed in Iran during the first nine days of protests that started in the bazaar, over the plunging value of the currency and soaring inflation, according to rights groups. On Tuesday, Iran's police chief vowed to "deal with the last of these rioters."
Authorities have attempted to maintain a dual approach to the unrest, saying protests over the economy are legitimate and will be met by dialogue, while meeting some demonstrations with tear gas amid violent street confrontations.
