Venezuela has been subjected to serious military aggression by the United States of America, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
“The aim of this attack is the seizure of Venezuela’s strategic resources, particularly oil and mineral resources, with the objective of forcibly undermining the country’s political independence. They will not succeed. After more than two hundred years of independence, the people and their legitimate government remain steadfast in defending sovereignty and the inalienable right to self-determination,” the statement said.
President Nicolás Maduro announced the introduction of a state of emergency in the country “to protect the rights of the population, ensure the full functioning of the republic’s institutions, and immediately transition to armed struggle.”
Against the backdrop of the strikes on Venezuela, Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for emergency sessions of the United Nations and the Organization of American States. According to him, the missile strikes on Venezuela are a serious signal for the entire world.
