Starting early this morning, airstrikes were carried out on Venezuela’s capital, Caracas. Air defense systems were activated. Explosions were heard in the city, fires broke out, and entire neighborhoods were left without electricity. It is assumed that the strikes were carried out by the United States.
According to media reports, targets included, among others, the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda air base and the Fort Tiuna port.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly pledged to carry out ground operations in Venezuela amid efforts to remove President Nicolás Maduro from office, including the expansion of sanctions, strengthening the US military presence in the region, and more than two dozen strikes against vessels allegedly involved in illegal drug trafficking in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
