At the High-Level Meeting on the Overall Review of the Implementation of the Outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN, emphasized essential role of international partnership to bridge existing digital gaps and strengthen ICTs in the era of rapid technological transformation, including the unchecked rise of artificial intelligence, and amid emerging opportunities and challenges in the information domain.
Commitment to promoting just, peaceful and inclusive societies, advancing peace and security, human rights and sustainable development was highlighted.
In his statement, Ambassador Hovhannisyan stressed that as a strong proponent of multistakeholder partnerships, Armenia joined the Freedom Online Coalition one year ago to contribute to protecting freedom online through shared experiences and dialogue.
Since April 2025, Armenia’s Ministry of High-Tech Industry, in cooperation with UNICEF and the Izmirlian Charitable Foundation, has implemented initiatives to protect childrens' rights and promote digital literacy and safety, including the development of a Roadmap on Childrens' Online Safety.
