Armenia’s Minister of Defense, Suren Papikyan, held a meeting on Friday in Yerevan with the UK Minister of State for Defense, Vernon Coaker, as well as the first British Resident Defense Attaché to Armenia, Major Thomas Shorland Ball.
Armenia’s Ambassador to the UK, Varuzhan Nersisyan, and the UK Ambassador to Armenia, Alexandra Cole, were also present.
“The parties discussed issues related to Armenia–United Kingdom cooperation in the defense sector,” according to a readout from the defense ministry.
“Both sides positively assessed the current level of cooperation and expressed their readiness to further advance it. The parties emphasized the importance of the appointment of resident Defense Attachés in both Armenia and the United Kingdom, noting that this step will contribute to the further expansion of bilateral defense cooperation. A number of international and regional security topics were also addressed,” the Armenian defense ministry said.
